Teresa H. Neeley sued Gateway, Inc., and Arnold Knott, alleging claims of negligence and wantonness. Neeley asserted that, on July 29, 2002, she was a customer in the Gateway computer store when Knott, another customer in the store, forcefully opened a door whose handle struck her lower back and caused her to be injured.
