Ernest Davis filed a worker's compensation claim against Addison Fabricators, Inc. ("Addison"), based on a work-related injury to his index finger. The trial court found that Davis was totally and permanently disabled and awarded compensation outside the schedule established by the Legislature in § 25-5-57, Ala.Code 1975, a part of the Workers' Compensation Act, § 25-5-1 et seq., Ala.Code 1975.
