The defendant, Brandon Lynn Kennedy, was charged by bill of information with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:95.1. Following a trial, a jury convicted the defendant of the responsive verdict of attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
