This case concerns a request by an inmate for DNA testing of evidence used by the State at his criminal trial in 1974. Douglas Scott Arey, appellant, was convicted by a jury in the Criminal Court of Baltimore, now known as the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, of first degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence.
