David Malone hired Russell Axtell and others to drive band equipment long distances across the country in rented vans. Axtell knew there was something fishy about the arrangement: he never dealt with any bands or drove to any concert halls; he just picked up vans in one place and drove them to another. Given this unusual "job," Axtell was probably not terribly surprised when Kansas police stopped him in February 2005 during a delivery...
