Gregory John Smith was convicted by a jury of illegal possession of a machine gun, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(o) and 924(a)(2), and illegal possession of an unregistered firearm (also the machine gun), in violation of 26 U.S.C. §§ 5841, 5861(d) and 5871.
