John Jenners pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, counterfeiting, and aiding and abetting counterfeiting, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 1344, 474, and 2. The district court sentenced Jenners to 108 months' imprisonment. Jenners did not appeal. However, the district court subsequently granted Jenners habeas relief on his claim of ineffective assistance of counsel because counsel failed to file a requested appeal. The district...
