In this negligence case, the plaintiffs, Remet Corporation and United States Fire Insurance Company, its subrogee (we will refer to both as "Remet"), allege that a fire destroyed Remet's manufacturing facility because the defendant, the City of Chicago, interrupted water service to the building's fire sprinklers and nearest fire hydrants and failed to restore service before the fire.
