In September 2004, a jury found defendant, Lamont G. Thomas, guilty of burglary (720 ILCS 5/19-1(a) (West 2002)) and theft of property valued in excess of $300 (720 ILCS 5/16-1(a)(1) (West 2002)). The trial court sentenced defendant to 15 years' imprisonment for the burglary conviction and a concurrent term of 4 years' imprisonment for the theft conviction.
