Wayne Edwards, an inmate at Big Muddy River Correctional Center in Illinois, dislocated his finger while playing basketball on New Year's Eve 2000. He claims he did not receive proper treatment for almost two days because the prison's physician was too busy ringing in the new year. Believing the physician and other prison staff showed deliberate indifference to his serious medical condition, Edwards filed a grievance through internal prison channels...
