On August 16, 2005, following a mistrial due to a hung jury, a subsequent jury found defendant, Anthony J. Newbill, guilty of robbery (720 ILCS 5/18-1 (West 2004)). On October 3, 2005, because this was defendant's third Class 2 felony, the trial court sentenced defendant as a Class X offender, which carries a term of 6 to 30 years' imprisonment (730 ILCS 5/5-8-1(a)...
