Defendant, Derek Dowden, was charged with armed robbery, a violation of La. R.S. 14:64. Defendant waived trial by jury and, after a bench trial on December 12, 2005, was found guilty as charged. Following his conviction, the State filed a supplemental bill of information accusing him of being a second-felony offender under the provisions of La. R.S. 15:529.1; Defendant admitted to being a habitual offender. Defendant filed a motion for new trial in March...
