In Stephenson v. Bartlett, our Supreme Court held that the North Carolina Constitution guarantees that "the right to vote on equal terms is a fundamental right" in the context of representative positions.1 Here, Plaintiffs contend that the holding in Stephenson extends beyond representative positions to include the election of judges.
