On November 24, 2004, the plaintiffs in this action filed suit under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. § 1973) and the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against Tupelo, Mississippi, alleging unlawful vote dilution.
