In this case, we address the extent to which the legislature waived the state's sovereign immunity to discrimination claims against the state. The plaintiff, Geraldine D. Lyon, appeals from the trial court's dismissal, on the basis of sovereign immunity, of her claims against the defendants, the office of the attorney general (department), and department employees Virginia Jones and Edward Reynolds.
