Defendant, Roderick Jackson, was charged by bill of information with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:95.1 (Count 1), and possession of more than 400 grams of cocaine, a violation of LSA-R.S. 40:967(F)(1)(c) (Count 2). Defendant entered a plea of not guilty and was tried before a jury. The jury determined defendant was guilty as charged on both counts. The trial court sentenced defendant to fifteen years...
