DAVID GAULTNEY, Justice.
The Texas Department of Public Safety denied William Chris Satterfield's 2005 application for renewal of his concealed handgun license because of a 1962 misdemeanor conviction for aggravated assault. The Department contends the offense, though a misdemeanor at the time of conviction, is a felony for purposes of Satterfield's eligibility for the concealed handgun license.
