A jury convicted Jett J. Mason Jr. of misdemeanor assault, assessed his punishment at confinement in the Dallas County jail for one day, and recommended that appellant be placed on community supervision. See TEX. PEN.CODE ANN. § 22.01(a)(1), (b) (Vernon Supp.2006). Following the jury's recommendation, the trial court suspended imposition of the sentence and placed appellant on community supervision...
