In this appeal from a defense summary judgment, we are called on to revisit the recurring question of how attenuated the link can be between an allegedly negligent behavior and damage allegedly caused by that behavior, before the actor is no longer legally responsible for the damage. Simplifying this appeal, most of the defendants previously involved in this case are not before us: we are focused on the alleged negligence...
