Plaintiffs, representing the estates of two people killed in an automobile accident, brought this wrongful death action against Vankirk, who was the driver of the other automobile involved in the accident, and against his parents, the Bogarts.1 Plaintiffs asserted that the Bogarts were liable under the "family purpose doctrine."
