The parties filed separate appeals. Both appeals stem from a suit San Patricio County filed against Nueces County to determine their common boundary ("boundary suit").1 The trial court severed from the original suit, San Patricio's claim for ad valorem taxes Nueces collected on disputed property ("tax suit").
