I. INTRODUCTION

This is a patent infringement case. On March 3, 2003, Honeywell International Inc. and Honeywell Intellectual Properties Inc. (collectively "Honeywell")1 filed suit alleging infringement of its U.S. Patent No. 4,914,436 ("the '436 patent") by certain products of Universal Avionics Systems Corp. ("Universe)2
