¶ 1 Skip P. Dahlen appeals from a judgment on an arbitration award. The trial court struck Dahlen's request for a trial de novo because he did not strictly comply with the local court rule for noting a trial date. We hold that the local rule requires a procedural step to aid the clerk in setting the trial; that the clerk failed to perform a required ministerial duty; and that Dahlen's right to a trial de novo should be reinstated.
