OPINION

Opinion by Justice CARTER.

After being confined for nearly ten months in the Gregg County Jail on several felony charges, without having been indicted by a grand jury, Corey Dewayne Fisher filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him for want of a speedy trial. Those charges stemmed from Fisher's November 10, 2004,1 arrest for possession of more than four grams of cocaine2
