Defendant brought a small claims action in Bronx Civil Court to recover, inter alia, $1,130 for damage to an apartment that he had rented to John D'Agostino and his wife. Defendant, as claimant, proceeded pro se, while Mr. D'Agostino was represented by a former Bronx County assistant district attorney.
