On April 17, 2003, Michael R. Smith participated in a robbery that resulted in the death of George Coverdale. A Superior Court jury convicted Smith of Second Degree Murder, First Degree Murder, two counts of First Degree Robbery, Second Degree Conspiracy, and several counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
