Pursuant to a written loan agreement, Larry Hopfenspirger lent Cambridge Energy Corporation (Cambridge) $300,000. The loan was personally guaranteed, up to $150,000, by Cambridge's chief executive officer, Perry West. After Cambridge defaulted on the loan, Hopfenspirger brought an action against Cambridge and West. The case was tried without a jury.
