¶ 1. Lillie Brakefield was a nurse's aide at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC) for over twenty years. On October 17, 1996, Brakefield filed a workers' compensation report of injury. In the report, Brakefield claimed that she sustained an injury when she assisted another hospital worker in turning a heavy bedridden patient.
