The appellant, Diana Lynn Shivener, pled guilty to reckless murder, a violation of § 13A-6-2(a)(2), Ala.Code 1975, and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, a violation of § 32-10-1, Ala.Code 1975. Ultimately, the trial court sentenced her to serve a term of twenty years in prison on the reckless murder conviction, but split the sentence and ordered her to serve five years followed by five years on probation.
