On April 23, 2001, defendant, Isaac Singleton, III, was charged by grand jury indictment with two counts of aggravated rape in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:42. Defendant pled not guilty to these charges on May 8, 2001. A motion to waive trial by jury was filed by defense counsel and granted by the trial judge on October 28, 2003.
