Defendant Byron Jones was convicted by a jury of first degree murder and sentenced to 23 years in prison. He appeals his conviction on the grounds: (1) the State failed to prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt; (2) the trial court erred when it told the jury it could recommend leniency in sentencing if it found defendant guilty; and (3) the State improperly alluded to gang motive during its opening and closing...
