Defendant, Leonard Ireland, was convicted of criminal sexual assault in violation of section 12-13(a)(3) of the Criminal Code of 1961 (the Code) (720 ILCS 5/12-13(a)(3) (West 2000)) in the circuit court of Kankakee County.
