This appeal arises from the second trial of defendant, Robert D. Jones, for the murder of Dr. Henry Dickerman, Jr. Defendant was charged and later found guilty of first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1 (West 1996)) following a jury trial in 1996 in the circuit court of Sangamon County.
