This litigation arises from a motor vehicle accident wherein a defendant driver caused personal injuries to plaintiff. After the court granted a motion for summary judgment removing defendant driver's employer from the suit based on a finding that the defendant driver was not in the course and scope of his employment, plaintiff added two defendants, one that issued the employer a self-insurance certificate
