The appellant in this case paid $1,000 to the arresting authority as bail for the defendant, who was charged for violation of a city ordinance. Defendant signed an "appearance bond" showing that cash had been deposited for her release on bail, but giving no indication that appellant was her surety. When defendant's case proceeded to court, defendant reached an agreement with the prosecutor to forfeit the $1,000 in satisfaction of the fine and court costs...
