¶ 1. This appeal arises from a civil lawsuit filed incident to a tragic event that occurred on the campus of Alcorn State University. On the evening of Monday, October 8, 2001, Demetrice Williams, a non-student, went onto the campus of Alcorn State, took part in a physical altercation with four female students, and eventually shot two students.
