The defendant, Carroll Potts Goins, was charged by grand jury indictment with second degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. Pursuant to a plea agreement, defendant pled guilty to the reduced charge of manslaughter, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:31. The district court sentenced defendant to serve 30 years at hard labor without accrual of good time credit and denied her motion for reconsideration of sentence.
