Roderick Alexander sued State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company and Reggie Whitaker, alleging fraud. At the close of the evidence, State Farm and Whitaker moved for a judgment as a matter of law; the trial court denied the motion. The jury returned a verdict in favor of Alexander in the amount of $200,000. State Farm and Whitaker then again moved for a judgment as a matter of law or, in the alternative, for a new trial.
