{¶ 1} Between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. on November 15, 2001, defendant-appellant, Christopher J. Newton, an inmate at the Mansfield Correctional Institution ("MANCI"), beat and strangled his cellmate, Jason Brewer, causing his death.
