Justice McLAREN delivered the opinion of the court:

In 2002, K.S. was adjudicated a neglected minor, made a ward of the court, and placed under the legal guardianship of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Respondent, Kevin S., the minor's father, appealed, and this court, among other things, reversed the adjudication of wardship and ordered that guardianship and custody of K.S. be placed with respondent.
