In January 2003, defendant pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree in full satisfaction of a 19-count indictment arising out of his involvement in a drug-selling operation. He was sentenced to a prison term of 10½ years to life. Defendant appeals, challenging the validity of his waiver of the right to appeal made in connection with the plea, as well as the severity of his sentence.*...
