The defendant, William Brown, was charged by grand jury indictment with one count of first degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30, and pled not guilty. Prior to the commencement of trial, the charge was amended to one count of second degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1, and the defendant pled not guilty to the amended charge. Following a jury trial, he was found guilty as charged by a unanimous verdict. He was sentenced to life imprisonment...
