The defendant, Roland Chambers, was originally charged by grand jury indictment with the offense of second degree murder, a violation of La.R.S. 14:30.1. After trial, a jury returned the responsive verdict of guilty of manslaughter, a violation of La.R.S. 14:31. Thereafter, the trial court sentenced the defendant to serve twenty years at hard labor. After the trial court rejected his motion to reconsider his sentence, the defendant perfected this appeal...
