I. INTRODUCTION

More than one hundred acoustic tiles hang from the ceiling of the auditorium at A.J. Dimond High School in Anchorage. The acoustic tiles hang below the fire sprinklers. The fire department determined that the tiles obstructed too much water from the sprinklers. The board of building examiners, finding that the sprinkler installation complied with local fire codes, overruled the fire...
