Petitioner was convicted in 1983 of murder in the second degree and robbery in the first degree and was sentenced to concurrent prison terms of 22 years to life and 6 to 18 years, respectively. In October 2004, petitioner made his initial appearance before respondent and his request for parole release was denied.
