We consider in this case whether an employee's claim of unlawful employment termination in violation of G. L. c. 151B, § 4 (16), survives the employee's death and, if so, what damages may be awarded. The employee, Richard Gasior, filed a complaint against his employer, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), claiming it had violated G. L. c. 151B, § 4, and the Massachusetts Equal Rights Act (MERA), G. L.
