In 1984, petitioner was convicted of two counts of murder in the second degree and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend and a male acquaintance. He was sentenced to concurrent prison terms of 20 years to life on the murder charges and 5 to 15 years on the weapons charges. He made his first appearance before the Board of Parole in July 2003.
