BAUER, Circuit Judge.

Minor R. Rivera, possessed of a long and checkered criminal career, escaped from a Salvation Army halfway house on October 7, 2004. Within twenty-four hours of the escape, however, he realized the error of his decision and voluntarily returned to the facility. Rivera was indicted by a grand jury under 18 U.S.C. § 751(a), and he pleaded guilty without a plea agreement. At sentencing, the district court held Rivera to be a career offender...
