Dwayne Jamae Jackson shot Michael Mayes and Louis Cabello in the parking lot of Westgate Apartments in Garden City on March 20, 2001. Mayes died as a result of his wounds, but Cabello survived. Jackson later admitted shooting the two men, but claimed that he did so in self-defense.
