In August 1999, Roy Stacey pled guilty in the Nelson Circuit Court to five counts of third-degree rape, five counts of third-degree sodomy, and to being a first-degree persistent felony offender. Pursuant to a plea agreement, Stacey was sentenced to ten concurrent five-year terms, enhanced to fifteen years' imprisonment by virtue of the PFO charge.
